The Webb family purchased the historic vineyards in Stellenbosch in the 1980's and then later bought vineyards in an area called Elgin, a valley surrounded by mountains lying around 70km southeast of Cape Town.
The wine is fermented and aged in french oak barrels meaning that the wood is prominent. You'll find aromas of citrus fruit and smokiness. Tim Atkin MW, one of the world's renown critics of South African wines gave this Thelema Sutherland Chardonnay 92 points. If you like oaked Chardonnay, there's every chance you'll love this wine!
