Staffelter Hof 862 commemorates the year winery operations started at Staffelter Hof. Over 1150 years of winemaking tradition is an important legacy to continue and they do so with this flagship wine which uses vines that are 40 to 50 years old.
This traditional style Riesling wine smells of peach with a hint of yellow grapefruit, citrus peel, hay and herbs. It's both addictive, straightforward and has a fine minerality that will shine out even more after two or three years in the cellar. The taste is substantial, crisp and clear. You'll find some ripe white peach, green and yellow apple and very delicate herbal notes.
Enormously versatile, the "862 old vines" will pair as well with barbecued meats as it does with courgette or fennel gratins, crayfish, hearty mashed potatoes with bundles and sauerkraut or a portion of cheese noodles.
