Librandi's Efeso is complex and rich, made from Mantonico, a grape only grown in the South of Italy. You ever heard of that? No, we hadn't either until Raffaele presented it during the first round of Quaranvino Dinner Dates. Fun fact : Calabria has more native varieties than any other region and this is just one.
Just like the sun of Calabria, it's powerful and strong and can only be drunk with food - and dishes that have the personality to match up to it. In fact this was quite a hit with the "I don't drink white wine" drinkers just because of its power and body.
Our favourite pairings include salmon roasted with new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, asparagus and topped off with a few basil leaves.
