Brachetto is a wine made from brachetto grapes native to the Italian region of Piemonte (or Piedmont in English). When you try this you'll wonder why you've never had it before! Bursting with red fruits, Brachetto just shouts "summer!!!!!". and is perfect with ice cream and a big bowl of berries or chocolate mousse, granache or truffles... We love this Piemonte Brachetto dolce from Borgo Maragliano because it's not overly sweet and interesting notes of white pepper and nutmeg make it good for aperitif too (paired with some cracked black pepper crisps)
Why we love Borgo Maragliano Piemonte Brachetto:
Not overly sweet, brachetto alcohol content is low - only 6.5% - making it one of those bottles you can just graze on in the summer sun, it'll be finished before you've realised it.
This was was included in our online wine tasting sessions in Summer 2020 and we love serving it with chocolate pots as we relax at the end of a sunny day.... Our easiest recipe is 50ml of our favourite chocolate melted slowly in a saucepan of 125ml of cream, then left in the fridge to chill for a few hours. Bliss.
It's also one we mention in our Summer food and wine Pairing guide, check out our blog post and recipe suggestions.
