Ataraxia's Pinot Noir is a dreamy mix of pomegranate, red cherries, woodland, fine herbs, new oak. Yep, you might think we're talking of the perfect date-night in wine, it's certainly one for savouring.
KevinGrant calls himself a soil farmer, not a wine-producer. Each of this wines represents the soils they are grown on and this is Ataraxia’s Bokkeveld Shale soils in a bottle.
Pinot Noir is the king of grapes when it comes to expressing terroir and sense of place. Grown on low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld Shale derived soils, the maritime-influenced climate is so marked that Ataraxia’s Pinot noirs are the very last to be picked in the Hemel-en-Aarde.
Kevin says about his wine, "It’s always wanting to ask a question of its drinker, rather than striving to be a statement wine."
We love it.
